Basic medition -we at rodent hill say" you deserve a brake a every day."

A practioner can show you how to achieve a meditative state, but you can teach your self if you are sufficiently disciplined. In order to meditate successfully, there are a few basic requirements.
A quiet place where you will not be disturbed
Regular practice. Preferably at the same time each day
An empty stomach
A comfortable position
A focus for the mind to help you withdraw from your surroundings: this can be an object such as a tree in a meadow, a candle burning in the dark; a mantra( aword or a phrase repeated continually, either silently or aloud);focussing on your breathing; 

1. sit up in a comfortable position with your spine straight. Keep your eyes open or closed, depending on the method of medition you are using. rest your hands in your lap.
2. Breathe slowly and rhythmically, and try to stay as still as possible.
3. focus on the object of your meditation and let your attention be passive. If your mind starts to wander, acknowledge what is happening, then return to your focus.
4. Continue for as long as is comfortable - for a few minutes to start with, building uo to 20 minutes a day.
5.When you are ready, open your eyes, then take a minute to become fully aware of your surroundings.
